Firenze (Florence) : Having not traveled as extensively in 2000 as I have now (which still isn't nearly as much as I would like), Firenze quickly became my favorite city, and still ranks among my favorites (behind Barcelona and Oporto).

Venice : I'm pretty sure of all the cities I've made a point of visiting on vacation Venice is the city I spent the least amount of time in. I think my stay did not exceed 10 hours, and may have been as little as 8 or 6. (It made sense at the time. In the dead of winter Venice isn't very happening.) But it was enough time to get a good deal of pictures, and have some of the best pizza I've ever had anywhere.

Roma (Rome) : Rome is city that started off my annual traveling winter vacation, and what a place to start. Even though I'd been to London, Paris and Edinburgh before this, Rome really blew my mind. It seemed like everywhere I looked there was something of great age and historical significance. And as you can tell, all of it seemed photo-worthy to me. Though I was still pretty novice when these were pictures were taken, they seem to me to be significantly better than my earlier attempts. And I still enjoy looking at them even now.

The Vatican : Though technically it's own country, the Vatican is basically a huge combination cathederal and museum in the middle of Rome.

Interesting bit of trivia: This gallery contains pictures of the late Pope John Paul's 2002 New Year address from his window in the vatican. Unfortunately, my camera at the time did not have the zoom my current camera has.
