The Batu Caves are located north of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur and function both as a monkey playground and as a hindu shrine. I don't recall the exact number of steps (I was too busy clinging to the railing to keep from rolling down the shallow steps), but there are a huge number. Enough that having ascended and descended them once, I never felt the need to return. (Now that I have a better camera, I may well return when I next visit Malaysia to collect some better monkey pictures!)
